Oil Analysis Sample Kit

Provides commercial oil analysis to identify early wear, contamination, and lubricant degradation—helping prevent costly equipment failures.

Operates a full-service commercial oil analysis laboratory that supports predictive maintenance by analyzing used lubricants to detect early signs of machine wear, contamination, and lubricant degradation, helping prevent costly failures in industries such as mining, manufacturing, and heavy equipment.

Originally focused on used oil from mobile equipment, the lab now offers comprehensive testing as part of Yellotec’s broader condition-based monitoring services. Samples can be submitted from on-site collection, performed to international standards, or directly to the lab.

Key services include:

  • Wear particle analysis – Identifying and quantifying metal particles to detect abnormal machine wear from gears, bearings, and other components, as well as common failure modes.
  • Contamination detection – Measuring particulates, water/moisture, dirt ingress, and other contaminants that can shorten lubricant and equipment life.
  • Lubricant condition assessment – Evaluating degradation through tests such as viscosity, acidity (TAN), oxidation, additive depletion, and other parameters to determine whether the oil is still fit for use or requires replacement.
  • Ferrous Quantification (PQ or DRF) – Measures the total amount of magnetic (mostly iron) debris.
